Monte J. Prince

Monte J. Prince CPA, acquired Byram Laboratories, Inc. in 1985. He currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to acquiring Byram, Mr. Prince was a managing partner in a large regional CPA firm chiefly responsible for audit and consulting services for the firms' manufacturing clients. His client list included household names: Faberge Fragrances & Cosmetics, Spalding Sports, Aerospace Industries, AP Parts and Mufflers, Libbey-Owens-Ford, and Modern Tool & Dies.

Certified in the states of Ohio, New York & New Jersey, Mr. Prince also serves on the advisory board of DeVry Technical Institute for the Electrical and Electronic curriculums. He also served as the Eagle Scout Advisor for his local Troop and Treasurer for the Lacrosse Club and Booster Club.

Monte Prince's years of commercial and operations experience in highly competitive markets make him a qualified leader with a deep understanding of customer's needs. Mr. Prince has been extremely successful in capturing cumulative organizational intelligence as he guided Byram Laboratories into the 21st century by signing exclusive ABB (MCE) Meter Center of Excellence and Elster Value Added Reseller (VAR) & OEM contracts. Such new smart (AMI) advanced metering infrastructure products differ from traditional automatic meter reading (AMR) in that it enables two-way communications with electric, gas and water meters.

Valerie T. Prince

Valerie T. Prince brings her 30 years plus experience in strategic human resource planning to Byram Laboratories Inc. As Senior Vice President Human Resources, Valerie has her B.A. in Psychology from Kean University and is responsible for directing all of the people functions of the corporation in accordance with the policies and practices of the Corporation, the ethical and social consciences of the business and society and the laws, regulations and administrative rulings of governmental organizations and other regulatory and advisory authorities and organizations. Valerie is also responsible for the strategic human resource planning to provide the company with the best people talent available and to position the company as the Employer of Choice by being aware of policies, practices and trends within the industry.

Jim Sammartino

Jim is a member of the AMI/Energy smart metering solutions team for Byram Laboratories, Inc providing hardware and service solutions in the Military Family Housing, Multi-family, Commercial and Solar Market segments

Jim brings a strong background of industrial and retail sales as well as strategic marketing skills from his 25 plus years' experience. Over the years, Jim has developed incredible business contacts across a myriad of industries from Wall Street, advertising, real estate development, colleges and universities, REITs, multi-family and commercial real estate development companies.

Alex Thompson

Alex Thompson, Vice President of Technical Services for Byram Laboratories, Inc., has 20+ years of metering technology and metering systems (AMR and AMI) experience. Alex is a graduate from Union County Technical College majoring in electronics. Mr. Thompson is an industry expert in Smart Metering technologies, metering instrumentation and NIST calibration.

Mr. Thompson has extensive experience in product development and life cycle management for high tech electronics equipment and Smart Metering wireless communication products. In addition, Mr. Thompson is an approved State of New Jersey CPE instructor presenting topics covering meter installing, training and applications. Mr. Thompson oversees the EA_MS AMI Projects in the Public Power markets.

Alex has received numerous recognitions and certifications from Elster, ABB, Megger, Fluke and other leading industries that manufacturer Smart Grid products. Alex is a key member of Byram team on the advancement, development and sustainability of customer focused Smart Metering technology solutions.

Anthony Gentile

Mr. Gentile has been a member of the AMI/Energy Smart Metering Solutions Team of Byram Laboratories, Inc since June of 2009. Anthony has an advanced EA_MS certification covering Energy Axis data base administration. Mr. Gentile provides hardware and software design solutions for Byram's AMI smart meter systems and IT infrastructure. He also serves as Senior Project Manager for several key AMI accounts.

Prior to joining Byram Laboratories, Inc., Mr. Gentile worked extensively in the both IT Design/Management and Control System Integration fields for 9 years. He was part of the Design Engineering Team at New Jersey based automation and control systems integrator, Howman Engineering. Anthony has also proposed and led IT infrastructure design, deployment, and support projects for numerous New Jersey based businesses.

Mr. Gentile holds degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics with a concentration in RF Communication Systems.

Our History
1910  -  Founder of Byram leaves employment with Westinghouse Electric Company, Newark, NJ and starts “Byram” a sole proprietorship business. Mr. H.F. Byram customer base was one customer – Westinghouse.
1935  -  Byram celebrates 25 years of being in business.
1945  -  H.F. Byram sells Byram to A. J. Torcivia. Relocates office to 30 Bathgate Place, Newark, NJ.
1948  -  A.J. Torcivia receives Electrical Engineering Degree, Columbia University.
1953  -  RCA became Byram’s second largest customer besides Westinghouse.
1954  -  Byram relocates single room office to 64 North Grove Street, Newark, NJ. This move doubles the size of Byram to an office room and large single room calibration laboratory.
1965  -  Byram relocates to 535 South Orange Avenue, Newark, NJ.
1966  -  Byram hires first non-family member to work as electrical technician.
1980  -  Byram relocates to Plainfield, NJ increasing office and laboratory size from 1,200 sq. ft. to 6,000 sq. ft.
1981  -  Byram changes form of organization from sole proprietorship to regular “C” corporation status. Name officially became Byram Laboratories, Incorporated. This change of status also initiated company health insurance and pension plans for all employees.
1985  -  Byram does liquidation and asset sale to Monte J. Prince with name Byram Corporation. A.J. Torcivia remains as business consultant under new management.
1991  -  ABB acquires Westinghouse meter business and establishes Byram as “MCE” Meter Center of Excellence as exclusive distributor/modification partner for all industrial, commercial and OEM business.
1991  -  Byram strengthens sales arm with the addition of 32 independent manufacturer representatives with a combined sales staff of approximately 133 personnel.
1996  -  Tornadoes strike New Jersey. Despite the local area being hit by tornadoes, Byram continues business through use of emergency back-up generators.
1998  -  Byram acquires office/production facility and relocates to Branchburg, NJ. This move increases building space to 16,000 sq. ft.
2000  -  Byram celebrates 90 years of being in business.
2005  -  Byram Laboratories becomes an AMR service bureau for Elster Electricy.
2010  -  Byram celebrates 100 years of being in business.
